On Tuesday, OpenAI unveiled its desktop version of ChatGPT for Linux, a preview app that amalgamates ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex. The Linux app, compatible with Ubuntu 24.04, 26.04 LTS, Debian 13, and Fedora 43 and 44, can be downloaded via .deb and .rpm packages tailored for both x64 and ARM64 architectures. OpenAI spokesperson expressed that Linux had been a highly sought-after platform for the desktop app and that its release now makes the ChatGPT and Codex accessible across every major desktop operating system.
