The U.S. naval blockade on Iran is inflicting severe economic damage, with land trade routes proving insufficient to compensate for the loss of sea trade. Prior to the conflict, over 80% of Iran's trade volume was transported by sea via southern ports, but these have now been cut off. The U.S. Central Command reported on Sunday that it has rerouted 109 commercial vessels to enforce the blockade.
