Is Lindsay Clancy bipolar? All we know as psychiatric nurse Rebecca Jollotta testifies about ‘mixed manic state’

Psychiatric nurse Rebecca Jollotta testified on Tuesday about her involvement with Lindsay Clancy. She had taken over Clancy's care in 2022, following the departure of previous practitioner Julie Paul. During their first meeting, Jollotta reviewed Clancy's medical history, which included her prescribed medications and a hospital visit in November.

During an in-person meeting on December 6, 2022, Jollotta raised concerns about the possibility of Clancy having bipolar disorder, given her response to Zoloft and difficulties tolerating other antidepressants. She noted Clancy's mixed manic state and strongly suggested she enter an outpatient program. In January 2026, Clancy filed a malpractice lawsuit against medical professionals, alleging they failed to identify her bipolar disorder and postpartum psychosis, which she claims led to the tragic death of her three children.

Symptoms exhibited by Clancy included insomnia, racing thoughts, depression, and emotional numbness. A mixed state is clinically acute and unstable, and Jollotta aimed to control Clancy's manic symptoms. The Clancys initially preferred Prozac over Valium, Jollotta's recommendation due to its longer duration and potential to prevent anxiety rebounding.

Jollotta expressed concerns about Clancy's bipolar diagnosis potentially complicating her treatment with Prozac, but ultimately believed it was acceptable. Clancy reported fluctuating heart rate and asked about its possible link to medication, specifically Seroquel. Jollotta acknowledged potential side effects, including heart rate variations.

Despite ongoing medication issues and Clancy's symptoms of depression, mania, and anxiety, Jollotta requested an in-person appointment on December 13, 2022, but they met virtually at Clancy's request.
