What urgent.news is

urgent.news is a single front page for the world's news. It reads 600+ sources across dozens of countries every few minutes, groups the many reports of one event into one story, and writes a short, plain-language account of each in its own words — so you can see what's happening without twenty open tabs.

How it works

Gather. A crawler polls hundreds of publishers' RSS feeds continuously and stores each new item with its source and time.

Group. Reports of the same event are clustered so the front page shows a story once, with an "also reported by" list of the other outlets that covered it.

Retell. For each story we generate our own concise account from the reporting — never the publisher's article text — or a shorter brief for lighter items. Foreign-language stories are translated.

Editor's take. Where it adds something, a short editorial read sits beside the account, clearly labelled and kept separate from the summary.

Read it your way. Eight topic desks, a "News from your country" edition chosen by your location (or picked from the flag menu), a personal For You feed of the desks you follow, and a Daily Edition.

On machine-written text

Everything urgent.news writes is generated by software, and every piece is labelled as such right on the story. We do not reprint anyone's article — we write our own summary from their reporting and link straight to the original so you can read the full account and judge it yourself. When we haven't written a story up, we say so and send you to the source.

Privacy

No accounts, no ads, no third-party trackers, no analytics profiles. The only cookies are the ones that remember your choices — the desks you follow and the country edition you pick — stored so the site can show you what you asked for. Nothing is shared with anyone.

urgent.news aggregates from 600+ outlets worldwide. Every story credits and links its original publisher, and each source has its own page (for example from any story's byline). If you run a publication and would like to be included — or excluded — get in touch.
