Gunmen kill 27 people in two mass shootings in South Africa

In South Africa, at least 27 individuals lost their lives in two separate mass shootings that occurred overnight in the Gauteng and Western Cape provinces. The first incident took place at a bar in Wedela township, located west of Johannesburg. Armed with assault rifles, gunmen killed 17 people and wounded 15 others. South African police have launched a manhunt for eight unidentified armed men who allegedly searched patrons and took their cellphones before fleeing the scene in two unidentified vehicles.

The victims were declared dead at the scene. The motive for the attack remains unknown. An hour later, in Lwandle township in the Western Cape, another shooting occurred at an entertainment venue. Ten people were killed, and 11 others were wounded. Five victims died at the scene, while five succumbed to their injuries after being hospitalized.

Authorities are investigating the incidents and searching for suspects who were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols.
