Army raids Boko Haram/ISWAP camp in Adamawa, kills 21

In a coordinated military operation, the Nigerian Army, in partnership with the National Security Adviser's Tactical Team, dismantled a terrorist camp belonging to Boko Haram and ISWAP in the Kopre Mountain region of Hong Local Government Area, in Adamawa State. The raid, which took place on Wednesday morning, was prompted by reliable intelligence regarding the activities of the militant groups in the area.

During the course of the operation, soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai engaged the terrorists in two distinct confrontations, resulting in the neutralization of more than 21 militants. The remaining insurgents managed to escape with gunshot wounds. The military reported that the operation also entailed the destruction of the terrorists' logistical infrastructure and the seizure of multiple weapons and supplies.

These included several AK-47 rifles, magazines, and a significant quantity of 7.62mm ammunition. Additionally, motorcycles, bicycles, and jerrycans filled with fuel were also destroyed. The Acting Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force in the North East, Captain Mohammed Goni, revealed that the mission was carried out to rescue hostages abducted from Mussa and Lassa communities.

He emphasized the Joint Task Force's unwavering commitment to launching intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating and rescuing abducted individuals, dismantling terrorist bases, undermining their logistical capabilities, and combating their fighting prowess. The military brass praised the troops and the Office of the National Security Adviser Tactical Team for their bravery, professionalism, resilience, and efficient collaboration during the operation.

The successful mission showcased the armed forces' capacity to engage in combat operations in challenging terrains and effectively neutralize terrorist threats.
