UAE sets textbook packages for every grade in new school-year guide

Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Education has released a new guide outlining the textbooks and learning resources students will receive during the 2026-27 academic year. This guide serves as a single reference for families and schools, covering the materials needed at each grade level. The Student Curriculum Book Package Guide outlines three key components of each student's learning package: printed textbooks, educational resources and learning kits, and electronic books accessible through the Smart Learning Platform.

The guide also describes a four-stage process for distributing textbooks, ensuring schools verify the quantities supplied match the number of pupils in each educational stage. The third stage requires formal approval of delivery and receipt documents with the textbook distributor, followed by final book distribution to students based on the approved package for their grade and school stage.

The guide addresses lost or damaged books, distinguishing between accidental and deliberate loss or damage. In the case of accidental loss or damage, students must submit a formal request to school administration, which will review the circumstances and provide a replacement as needed. For deliberately lost or damaged books, replacements are ordered from the approved supplier, with associated costs charged to the responsible party.

The ministry has provided first-term textbook lists for the 2026-27 academic year in three categories: electronic books only, printed and electronic books for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and printed and electronic books for Abu Dhabi. These lists can be accessed through a QR code included in the guide.
