ISWAP suffers major blow as troops neutralise many terrorists in Adamawa

Operation HADIN KAI, conducted by the Joint Task Force (North East), has dealt a major blow to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Adamawa State. Acting Military Information Officer Captain Mohammed Goni disclosed that a joint force comprising the Office of the National Security Adviser, tactical team, and newly inducted troops from 226 Battalion, deployed under the Chief of Army Staff's directive, executed a stealth insertion into the Kopre Mountain general area in Hong Local Government Area.

Navigating the challenging terrain, the force successfully infiltrated the terrorist enclave and launched a precision strike early Thursday. The operation aimed to locate and rescue victims, including those abducted from Mussa community in May 2026 and Lassa schoolchildren in June 2026. During the operation, troops engaged terrorists in two separate skirmishes, ultimately neutralizing more than 21 extremists while others were wounded.

Following the fierce engagements, the joint force dominated the area, dismantling the entire terrorist camp and destroying associated logistics infrastructure. Troops seized several motorcycles, bicycles, and jerrycans filled with Premium Motor Spirit, as well as numerous AK-47 rifles and ammunition. This successful mission highlights the joint force's operational tempo, tactical proficiency, intelligence capabilities, and combat effectiveness.
