Sourav Ganguly, wife Dona Ganguly receive death threat letters, cops begin probe

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and his wife Dona have received threatening letters in recent months, according to a police investigation. The letters, which warned of killing the Gangulys and others close to them, prompted the cricket star to file a complaint with the Thakurpukur Police Station in south Kolkata. The police began their probe after receiving the latest letter at Ganguly's office on Monday.

Initially, the letters were not taken seriously and were sent in the former BCCI president's name for around six months. Ganguly's manager lodged a written complaint about the recent letters, which contained explicit threats. The police are examining the contents of the letters and attempting to identify the sender and their motive.

The preliminary investigation suggests the letters may have been sent through a courier service from Belgharia, a district in North 24 Parganas. The police have contacted the courier agency and tracked down a mobile number associated with the letters. They are also investigating whether all the letters were sent by the same person and why the threats were made.
