Sourav Ganguly, wife Dona Ganguly receive death threat letters, cops begin probe

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and his wife Dona Ganguly reportedly received death threat letters on Monday, according to police. The BCCI president had been receiving threatening letters in recent months, but the issue was previously dismissed, a secretary told the police. On Monday, two letters arrived at Sourav's office, each containing explicit threats to kill him and his wife, as well as harm those close to them.

Initially, the secretary assumed the letters were from someone who disliked Ganguly and were expressing personal resentment. The letters were sent from Belghoria in North 24 Parganas district, and police allege the sender's name is Arun. The police are taking the complaint seriously and have initiated an investigation into the letters' contents, identity of the sender, and motive.

They are examining the letters, their source, and the courier trail to identify the person responsible. The police have also tracked down a mobile number linked to the courier service and are attempting to identify the sender. There was no immediate comment from Sourav and Dona Ganguly regarding the threats.
