Sourav Ganguly and wife Dona get death threats, approach police

Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and his wife Dona have reported a police complaint after receiving letters containing death threats, according to sources. The complaint, filed by Ganguly's personal assistant, alleges that two letters addressed to the couple were opened at the Bengal cricket association president's office on Monday.

Both letters, written in English, contained serious threats to the lives and safety of the couple and their associates. Family sources revealed that similar letters had been received over the past six months, but the explicit language in the latest correspondence prompted the Ganguly family to involve the authorities. A written complaint was filed at Thakurpukur Police Station in Kolkata, and the state government's security department has been informed.

The family believes the latest letters represented an escalation from previous instances of objectionable remarks, which they had initially dismissed as expressions of personal animosity. Police have initiated an investigation to identify the perpetrator and implement measures to safeguard Ganguly, his wife, and their staff.
