Sourav Ganguly, wife Dona receive death threats; Kolkata Police begin probe

Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has reported receiving threatening letters to the police over the past few months, including one allegedly threatening his life and his wife Dona Ganguly's, according to news agency PTI. The former captain, who is currently the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), has filed a written complaint at Thakurpukur Police Station in south Kolkata.

Ganguly's manager informed the police that the letters were addressed to him for approximately six months and were initially not taken seriously. However, two letters received on Monday contained explicit threats to kill Ganguly, his wife, and people close to them. The police have initiated an investigation to identify the sender and understand the motive behind the threats.

It is believed that the letters may have been sent through a courier service from Belgharia in North 24 Parganas district. The police are tracking the courier trail, examining the SIM card used by the sender, and have spoken to the courier agency to collect details about the consignments.
