NCIA trains KRA officers in intelligence analytics

Nairobi, Kenya - The National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA) has commenced a five-day intelligence profiling and analytics course tailored for Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers, as part of a broader strategy to enhance intelligence-led enforcement and risk detection. This specialized training seeks to equip KRA personnel with essential skills in intelligence profiling, data analysis, and information interpretation, enabling them to make better-informed decisions and bolster enforcement operations.

Addressing the participants on behalf of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), NCIA Commandant Ibrahim Jillo urged the officers to move beyond mere information collection and develop the ability to convert it into actionable intelligence. "Your role is to refine your capacity to transform information into intelligence, and intelligence into action," Jillo emphasized. "Take full advantage of this training, challenge yourselves, and return to KRA prepared to make well-informed decisions."

Representing KRA, Prisca Mutindi highlighted the critical importance of participants applying the acquired skills in their respective roles. "The success of this training will be determined by how effectively you utilize these skills upon your return to work," Mutindi stated. "We encourage you to engage with the material, learn thoroughly, and apply these skills to strengthen KRA's capacity in identifying risks and staying ahead of emerging threats."

The five-day program is part of NCIA's mission to offer specialized and competency-based training to various law enforcement agencies and government institutions. This initiative aims to foster deeper collaboration among government entities by enhancing shared capabilities in intelligence analysis and enforcement. Subsequent to the current course, NCIA plans to deliver further specialized programs focusing on basic and advanced intelligence analysis, surveillance, and asset tracing.

These additional trainings are designed to augment officers' capabilities in supporting intelligence-led investigations, detecting new threats, and improving enforcement outcomes.

As government agencies increasingly leverage intelligence analysis to gauge risks, uncover criminal activities, and make strategic operational decisions, this training underscores the growing reliance on intelligence-led approaches across various sectors in Kenya.
