Andy Burnham will deliver an "honest conversation" to Britain on Tuesday, outlining the trade-offs involved in addressing some of the country's most pressing issues, such as social care and utility control, during his first conference speech as prime minister. The Labour leader aims to make energy more affordable by establishing a publicly-owned body, the Great British Grid, to expedite grid connections and boost his reindustrialization efforts. He hopes to align energy costs with European counterparts within a decade. However, some experts view this policy as a distraction from more pressing issues. Burnham has committed to the triple lock for pensions, a key welfare benefit for older voters, but has not ruled out changes in the future.
