Britain’s PM is on a ‘Burnham bounce.’ When will he fall to earth?

Farage recently ruled out an early general election, stating that Burnham does not want the issue to overshadow Labour's conference. Reform UK, despite facing financial scrutiny, remains resilient, with Farage asserting that the party will cooperate with any investigation into its financial dealings.

Reform UK's threat to Burnham's leadership is heightened by the party's recent financial scandals, which have led to a criminal investigation into party donations. The populist and anti-immigrant party won a significant victory in England's local elections earlier this year. Burnham himself addressed the growing anti-immigrant sentiments, describing the recent protests along Britain's coastline as "unacceptable."

Additionally, Burnham faces the challenge of regaining support from progressives who have defected to the Green Party under Starmer. The party leader, Zack Polanski, will face an election to become the next Member of Parliament in London's Holborn and St Pancras constituency, Starmer's former seat. This situation highlights the complex political landscape in which Burnham must navigate to secure his position as Prime Minister.
