Thunderstorms and strong winds expected across Saudi Arabia Sunday

Saudi Arabia is expected to experience moderate to heavy thunderstorms, along with the potential for flash floods and hail showers, as well as strong winds with dust and sand, on Sunday. The weather conditions are forecast to affect several regions, including Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and parts of the Red Sea coast.

In Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah, the thunderstorms could lead to flash flooding and hail. Light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in Madinah. Strong surface winds are also predicted, capable of stirring up dust and sand, particularly in Riyadh. Fog is set to form overnight and early in the morning along the coasts of Makkah and the Eastern Province.

In the Red Sea region, northwesterly to northerly winds are expected to blow at speeds ranging from 20 to 43 kilometers per hour in the northern area and 20 to 45 km/h in the central region. The southern part of the Red Sea will face southwesterly to northerly winds of 15 to 30 km/h, with gusts potentially reaching over 50 km/h during thunderstorms.

Wave heights are forecast to vary, ranging from one to two meters in the north, one to two and a half meters in the central section, and potentially exceeding two meters in the south during thunderstorms.
