UN and GCC denounce Huthi attacks on Saudi Arabia following missile interception over Riyadh

The Huthi forces in Yemen have intensified their cross-border attacks on Saudi Arabia's civilian infrastructure, prompting widespread denouncement from both the international and regional communities. The Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen reported the interception of a ballistic missile aimed at Riyadh, as well as their response to coordinated strikes on cities including Baish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu.

At the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed al-Budaiwi jointly condemned the attacks, emphasizing the severe threat they pose to regional security and stability. Iran-aligned Huthi forces, who have been using ballistic missiles and explosive drones to target Saudi energy facilities, airports, and urban centers, have escalated their aggression over the past years.

Despite the Saudi-led coalition's success in intercepting the majority of these projectiles, the persistent targeting of commercial infrastructure and civilian population centers remains a significant source of regional instability, prompting critical attention from international diplomacy.
