Trump says will ask Europeans to repay US for aiding Ukraine

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he intends to request European nations to reimburse the US for the military aid provided to Ukraine during the administration of his predecessor, Joe Biden. Trump has consistently advocated for European countries to assume a larger share of the expenses associated with Western support for Ukraine's conflict with Russia, which has been ongoing for over four years.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump revealed that "Hundreds of Billions of Dollars was given to Ukraine and NATO, free of charge, that Europe would have paid for - If they were only asked, but we will be asking for that money, though somewhat belatedly!" However, he did not specify which European nations he believed should contribute to this repayment.

Furthermore, Trump dismissed reports suggesting that the US military was facing a shortage of munitions in its ongoing war against Iran. He stated, "We have virtually unlimited amounts of Mid to High Grade Ammunition," adding that ammunition production levels have reached an unprecedented scale. Trump acknowledged that the US military is intensifying its stockpile and preparing for potential contingencies, including temporarily suspending arms sales to other countries. Despite this, he indicated that the sales to allies will resume soon.
