PAS Perak seru Adun Umno-BN undi calon senator PN

The Perak PAS delegation has urged Perak Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) lawmakers to back a Perikatan Nasional (PN) senator candidate in the upcoming Perak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) election. This step marks the first move towards political cooperation between the two parties. Berhanudin Ahmad, representing PAS Perak, stated that the senatorial election could serve as a foundation for rebuilding trust and relationships between PAS and Umno in the state.

“InsyaAllah next week, during the Perak DUN sitting, there will be an agenda to elect a senator. Two candidates will be presented, one from Pakatan Harapan (PH) from PKR and one from PN (PN).” He suggested that it would be beneficial for Umno and BN lawmakers to vote for a PN candidate in this senatorial election to begin the process of repairing relations in Perak.

Berhanudin emphasized that PAS Perak is open to initiating discussions with Umno and BN to promote the political welfare of the state and the unity agenda. He added that unification should start with unity within the party and respect for leadership institutions. According to him, the Presiden PAS Hadi Awang has long advocated for the Penyatuan Ummah concept, which he believes precedes the concept of Rumah Bangsa.

The lack of unity, trust, and coherence among parties, he believes, is the root cause of the strained relations between PAS and its PN allies. He highlighted that PN, as a coalition of parties that depend on each other, must strengthen unity, trust, and coherence among the parties. The message is clear: the PN needs to deliver an agenda of unity and harmony, and prove capable of becoming an alternative to the existing government.

Berhanudin also cited Aristotle's philosophy on civic life, which should be directed towards the common good rather than individual or specific group interests. “This is the kind of cooperation PAS advocates, providing benefits to society as a whole. Cooperation does not mean everyone must have the same views, but be ready to discuss, listen, and find common ground to benefit the collective interest.”
