Tiger Woods set for Florida court appearance in DUI plea case

Tiger Woods is set to appear in a Florida court on Wednesday for a change-of-plea hearing in connection with his DUI arrest that occurred in March. The incident took place on March 27 after Woods' vehicle rolled over near Jupiter Island. He was charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test.

Initially, Woods entered a not-guilty plea, leading to a status hearing scheduled for September 8. However, the court approved his request to travel abroad for treatment, allowing him to plead not guilty while postponing the trial. Woods' attorney, Douglas Duncan, filed a change-of-plea document, and the hearing is set to take place at 8:30 am before Judge Darren Steele.

Woods' attorney had previously requested a jury trial but later agreed to this change of plea. During his arrest, witnesses and police accounts reported that Woods' Range Rover drifted over double solid lines, swerved to avoid a pickup truck and trailer, and exhibited signs of impairment. An arrest affidavit also revealed that police found two hydrocodone pills during the search of Woods' vehicle. Woods was held in custody for the mandated eight hours before being granted bail.
