Watch: US strike hits wedding in Iran, leaving child among four dead

A US airstrike targeted a wedding venue in southern Iran, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals, including a child, and leaving around 50 people injured, according to Iranian officials. The targeted location was the coastal village of Kohstak, situated in Sirik County of Hormozgan province. Iranian state media and local authorities reported damage to the wedding site following the attack.

Ahmad Nafisi, the deputy governor of Hormozgan province, initially stated to Iranian state television that the US strike had claimed two lives and caused injuries to others. The provincial Red Crescent later revised the death toll to four, including a child, with 50 people reported to be injured. Some of the wounded were treated and released, while others were transferred to Minab Hospital for specialized care.

The strike occurred amid a resurgence of hostilities between the United States and Iran, following a month-long pause in military action. The US Central Command confirmed that their latest strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, radar installations, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities, and communication facilities. These attacks were in response to Iranian attempts to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and US personnel in the region.

Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes, reportedly targeting Jordan, where US forces are stationed. Jordan claimed to have intercepted the missiles, while the United Arab Emirates intercepted an Iranian drone over its waters. US President Donald Trump cautioned Iran against retaliatory actions, warning that Tehran would face an even stronger response.

The renewed conflict has heightened concerns over shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil route. Iran has been collaborating with Oman to establish a framework for managing shipping traffic, while Gulf nations have called for the unqualified reopening of the strait.
