Tiger Woods set to change not guilty plea in DUI case: court documents

Tiger Woods, the acclaimed golfer, is reportedly set to alter his not guilty plea in a DUI case involving a March car accident in Florida, according to court documents. On Tuesday, a hearing for Woods to formally change his plea was added to the case docket at a Martin County court. Woods' legal team has not yet commented on the nature of the plea change.

In March, Woods crashed his SUV into a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck near his Jupiter Island home. He was found to be impaired, with opioid painkillers present in his possession. Woods claimed he was distracted by his phone and changing radio channels at the time of the crash. Post the incident, Woods announced a plan to seek treatment and focus on his health.

Following the accident, Woods was cleared by a judge to travel to an inpatient facility, reportedly in Switzerland. He made his first public appearance since the arrest at the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship in June. In July, a judge granted prosecutors the right to review Woods' hospital treatment and prescription drug records, with access strictly limited to prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and experts. This includes Woods' defense team.

Woods has undergone multiple back surgeries due to injuries sustained in a previous 2021 California car crash.
