Central Regional Minister visits victims of New Winneba attack

The Central Regional Minister recently paid a visit to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital to evaluate the well-being of individuals who were injured during a violent attack in the New Winneba Township. During his tour, he engaged with the affected residents and examined their condition following the incident, which has raised security concerns in the region.

The attack took place on Tuesday when a group from Gomoa Oguakrom, Gomoa Yenkuadze, and Gomoa Pomadze allegedly targeted locals, causing damage to shops and properties. At least three people were reported dead, and around 15 others, a police officer included, received treatment at the hospital. Following the violence, security forces, including personnel from the Winneba Divisional Headquarters and Agona Swedru District Patrols, were deployed to restore order.

The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, dispatched additional reinforcements, including two armored vehicles, to bolster security. The Central Regional Minister's visit aims to facilitate discussions with the victims and gauge the extent of the incident's impact, as authorities strive to restore tranquility and security in New Winneba.
