12 wounded in New Winneba attack discharged, 7 remain on admission – Police

Twelve out of nineteen individuals injured in the recent violent attack in New Winbe, Effutu Municipality, Central Region, have been treated and discharged from the hospital. Seven patients are still being admitted for medical care, while three fatalities have been confirmed. Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ohene Boadi Bossman, reported an increase in security operations in the affected areas to deter further confrontations.

He mentioned the establishment of six checkpoints to monitor activities and safeguard residents. DCOP Bossman also disclosed that six suspects are being prepared for trial, and the police are still working towards apprehending other individuals linked to the incident. He appealed to the public to assist the authorities by providing necessary information that could aid the investigation.

The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Okyere Panin, urged the conflicting parties to show restraint and refrain from retaliatory actions, warning that further violence could exacerbate the situation and result in more loss of lives and property. Authorities have assured the public that security measures will remain in effect as investigations proceed and efforts are made to restore tranquility to the impacted communities.
