We’re ready to mobilise funds for National Cathedral – Christian Council

The Christian Council of Ghana has expressed readiness to mobilise resources locally and internationally to support the completion of the National Cathedral, according to Rev. Dr Cyril Fayose, the Council's General Secretary. During a meeting with Ghana's Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, the Council acknowledged its preparedness to contribute resources globally.

The visit also served as a platform for discussing potential collaborative efforts in various sectors such as sanitation, education, healthcare, and religious tolerance. The Christian Council has offered to work alongside the Ministry through its Environmental Care and Cleanliness Programme to enhance sanitation nationwide. Mahama Ayariga emphasized the necessity for a shift in attitudes towards waste management, advocating for the separation of waste at its source and suggesting that households should have at least three dustbins to facilitate effective segregation.

In relation to the National Cathedral project, the Minister underscored the government's open-mindedness to the development of such a cathedral, provided that stakeholders within the Christian community reached a consensus on critical issues like location, cost, and financing. The Minister reiterated that while the government is not against the existence of a National Cathedral, it is essential for community stakeholders to align on a unified path forward.
