Google launches five new Pixel devices, array of Gemini Intelligence features

Google has introduced five new Pixel devices equipped with an upgraded version of Gemini Intelligence software. The lineup includes a foldable phone, three smartphones, and a smartwatch. The centerpiece is the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, an 8-inch device with a foldable hinge that activates a 6.5-inch external screen made of strong ceramic glass. This model boasts improved crease performance and 20% brighter displays compared to previous iterations.

The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro series feature the Tensor G6 system-on-chip, which includes an integrated AI accelerator 50% more powerful than its predecessor. This enables the devices to run AI models up to 3.5 times faster while using less energy. These smartphones also feature advanced telephoto lenses capable of 30-fold and 120-fold zoom, respectively. A new AI feature called Magic Capture allows users to record two-minute videos and automatically save the best frames as photos.

Additionally, the Pixel 11 introduces updated versions of Google's keyboard app, Gboard, utilizing an AI model to transcribe sign language into text. This feature, called SL2T, is highly capable according to benchmark scores and enables users to interact with Gemini using sign language. The Tensor G6 chip also enhances low-light photography quality with an improved image signal processor.

Other AI features include glanceable cards in apps that provide quick actions like booking a restaurant reservation, and a location-specific information retrieval feature in the standalone Gemini app, displaying relevant data points on the lock screen based on the user's current location.

The Pixel devices range in price from $899 to $1,299, while the Pixel Fold is priced at $1,899. The Pixel Watch 5, the latest smartwatch, comes with 50% more memory and a 12% performance boost, and will be available for $399.
