Google drops the AI Pro to 6 months with Pixel 11 Pro, ditches free plan for base model

Google has reduced the free trial period for the AI Pro plan from 12 months to just 6 months for specific Pixel 11 Pro handsets. The company has also decided to eliminate the free trial for the base Pixel model this time around. In the US, the Google One AI Pro Plan is priced at $19.99 and offers 5TB of Drive storage, Google Health Premium, as well as expanded Gemini usage.

However, this decision has raised concerns as Gemini, which is crucial to the Pixel experience, may not be accessible if the free trial is no longer available. The company stated that this change is due to more functionality being integrated into the AI plan over time. However, potential buyers should be aware that those who already have a Google One plan above 5TB, have an active Google One add-on, are a member of a Google One family plan (excluding managers), or purchase through a third-party affiliate are not eligible for this trial.
