US rapper Rick Ross arrested

US rapper Rick Ross was arrested in Miami, Florida, on Thursday after his ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, accused him of physical abuse, including choking her during an argument in August. Ross faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery, both classified as domestic violence-related. The arrest came days after Kendrick shared her allegations on Instagram.

Ross appeared via Zoom before a Miami-Dade Circuit judge for a bond hearing, who found probable cause and set his bond at $5,000. The judge issued a stay-away order prohibiting Ross from contacting Kendrick, her home, workplace, and school, and ordered him to surrender any firearms and prohibited from engaging in criminal activity or using illegal drugs.

Ross' attorney denies the allegations, stating that he is innocent, and requests the public to allow the process to unfold. Ross' next court appearance is scheduled for October 22.
