Rapper Rick Ross arrested over alleged choking, assault of woman

American rapper Rick Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts, has been arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, on charges of battery by strangulation and battery. The 50-year-old rapper faces one felony count and one misdemeanor count, both classified as domestic violence, according to Miami-Dade jail and court records. A woman who had been in a relationship with Ross for about a year has accused him of becoming enraged after discovering she had been tagged in an Instagram photograph, leading to a violent altercation where she alleges she was slapped, choked, and pushed to the floor.

Ross' lawyer has denied the allegations, urging the public to await the outcome of the legal process.
