Perak cops arrest woman suspected of stabbing mother to death

Perak police have apprehended a woman suspected of murdering her mother with a knife in Kampar, Perak on Monday evening. Chief Alwi Zainal Abidin revealed that the victim, a 70-year-old woman, was discovered deceased at her residence with chest stab wounds. The incident allegedly occurred around 7pm. The 49-year-old suspect's son-in-law reported the crime, leading to the arrest of the woman.

Alwi disclosed that the victim had recently returned from an elderly care facility in Pusing to receive home care. Police were informed that only the suspect and victim were present in the house during the incident. Initial findings indicated that the suspect had a history of mental illness, according to Sinar Harian. The police are awaiting a report on the suspect's mental health to aid their investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder. The suspect has been detained until October 4th to help with the ongoing investigation.
