Who is Rajiv Rangila? Mastermind of Rs 700-cr Delhi medical supplies fraud arrested

Rajiv Rangila, a 50-year-old pharmaceutical trader, has been arrested and is being held in police custody as one of the alleged masterminds behind a Rs 700-cr fraud involving medical equipment procurement in Delhi. He surrendered to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) after fleeing the country in June. Rangila allegedly created fake firms using fictitious owners to manipulate government tenders and colluded with medical equipment manufacturers to fix supply rates and arrange kickbacks.

The fraud was uncovered in May when the Vigilance department conducted raids on the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) offices following multiple complaints. Rangila is accused of being the "main beneficiary" of the fraud, and his properties are set to be seized. He has been named along with former Directorate General of Health Services chief Dr Vatsala Aggarwal and Deputy Controller of Accounts Neeraj Chopra in the case.
