Man Who Was Shot during 2024 Trump Campaign Rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Has Died

James Copenhaver, a 76-year-old campaign rally attendee shot during an assassination attempt on then-candidate Donald Trump in 2024, has died in Pittsburgh. He was struck in the arm and abdomen, suffering from debilitating, permanent injuries that required multiple surgeries. Copenhaver's lawyer stated he died surrounded by loved ones, though it's unclear if his death was directly related to the injuries.

Along with two others, Copenhaver was shot during the event in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a 20-year-old gunman opened fire from a nearby rooftop. Two of the victims survived, including David Dutch, while Corey Comperatore, who shielded his family, was killed. Copenhaver's family had previously sued the federal government, alleging inadequate security at the rally.
