No minister is above scrutiny, Kingibe replies Wike

Senator Ireti Kingibe has responded to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, asserting that no minister or public office holder is above scrutiny. She challenged Wike to provide evidence of Senate approval for loans acquired by the FCT Administration, after he dismissed her allegation that the administration obtained loans without proper approval from the National Assembly.

Kingibe made the statement while responding to Wike's claim that she would not be returning to the Senate in 2027. She emphasized that her role as a senator is to question, demand accountability, and defend democratic principles. Kingibe rejected Wike's assertion regarding her future in politics, stating that the decision lies with the FCT voters.

The senator also condemned attempts to intimidate, silence or demean women in government, asserting that women in public office should not be expected to remain silent when they raise difficult questions or refuse to compromise their principles.
