Eriksen leaves Wolfsburg by mutual consent

Christian Eriksen has departed Wolfsburg by mutual agreement, less than three months after suffering a collapse during Denmark's friendly match against Ukraine. The midfielder, 34, had contracted with the German second-tier club until June 2027. Eriksen, who has played for Ajax, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Brentford, had previously experienced a cardiac arrest during Denmark's opening European Championship group game against Finland in 2021.

Currently, Eriksen's priority is to be near his family in Denmark. He expressed satisfaction with the mutual arrangement, stating that his time with Wolfsburg included both triumphs and challenges. The club is now in capable hands as it strives to return to the Bundesliga, and Eriksen is confident in a positive future ahead. The 151-capped international has not played since June 2022.

Upon leaving Wolfsburg, Eriksen's managing director for sport, Dieter Hecking, confirmed that the decision regarding his future was entirely Christian's. The club granted Eriksen the freedom to terminate the contract during this specific period. Despite a limited tenure at the club, Eriksen has made a lasting impact on his teammates, staff, and fans.
