Hundreds of flights cancelled as Typhoon Dujuan nears Japan

Typhoon Dujuan, accompanied by high winds, has forced the cancellation of over 275 flights in Japan, prompting warnings of potentially record-breaking rainfall as the storm nears Tokyo. All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines each canceled dozens of domestic and international flights. The storm has also led to the early closure of the Tokyo Game Show and knocked out power for thousands.

The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts rain and winds will intensify before the typhoon's arrival, with total rainfall through Tuesday exceeding September's average. Wind speeds reached 144 kmph, with the typhoon approximately 110km from Hachijojima. Over 4,000 households in Chiba were without power, and railway operators suspended services on some lines. Heavy rain and possible landslides were warned to residents.
