Mumbai Coastal Road Accident: Speeding BMW Kills 3, Leaves 2 Critically Injured; Driver Detained

A speeding BMW crashed on the Mumbai Coastal Road early Sunday morning, resulting in three fatalities and one critically injured occupant, according to police reports. The high-speed collision occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. as the luxury car traversed the road from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near the Lotus Jetty, situated opposite Lala Lajpatrai College.

All four individuals inside the car were promptly transported to the nearby Nair Hospital, where three victims were pronounced dead upon arrival. The deceased have been identified as 21-year-old Shanay Gajjal and 17-year-old Dhirya Seth. Another male passenger, believed to be around 25 years old, was still unidentified at the time of reporting.

The hospital staff revealed that the fourth occupant, an unidentified male in his early twenties, sustained severe injuries and is currently in a critical condition in the hospital's trauma ward. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The Mumbai Coastal Road, a 10.58-kilometer high-speed freeway, serves as a vital link connecting Marine Drive in southern Mumbai to the Worli end of the Bandra–Worli Sea Link.
