Ex-Google DeepMind researcher adds to warnings that AI could ‘kill all humans’

A former Google DeepMind employee, Bilal Chughtai, has joined the chorus of AI researchers warning that the technology could potentially "kill all humans." Chughtai, who previously worked on AGI safety and alignment research at DeepMind, emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to navigate AI development safely, preventing a "manic race" among AI companies. His warning echoes similar concerns raised by other prominent AI researchers, such as Anthropic's Jacob Coxon and Evan Hubinger, who have also expressed fears about the potential risks of AI.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has called for a slowdown in the pace of advanced AI development, garnering support from both Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
