Politics : Loke Calls For PH Presidential Council Meeting To Discuss Political Developments

Sungai Buloh, September 14 — DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke declared he will suggest Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to convene the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council to address recent political happenings following statements delivered at the Umno General Assembly. He stated these recent remarks have raised concerns about political certainty and stability, potentially impacting investor and public trust in the nation.

Loke emphasized these developments were met with serious concern and contemplation, adding he would approach Anwar, who serves as PH chairman, to convene a Presidential Council meeting to examine and deliberate on the latest happenings upon his return from his overseas journey. "Some of the statements made, of course, are not favorable in terms of political certainty and political stability in the country, as component parties in the government do not seem to be moving in the same direction," Loke noted.

"Therefore, this is something which would not instill much confidence in investors and the public. The Prime Minister must also make this clear with all component parties," the Transport Minister remarked. Loke shared these remarks during a meeting with reporters following the inauguration of the CARSOME Academy M.V.15 Vehicle Inspection Centre at the CARSOME Dealer Hub in his constituency.

He was responding to inquiries from the media regarding Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's concluding address at the recently concluded Umno assembly. The speech included comments on Barisan Nasional's (BN) role within the Unity Government. When asked whether PH would seek clarification on BN's position or the challenges raised by the Umno leadership, Loke maintained that any official response from high-level authorities should emanate directly from the Prime Minister.
