Bawa Rock supports Obuasi Town Hall fire victims with GH¢1.5m, sewing machines

Bawa Rock Limited, a gold trading company in Obuasi, has provided significant assistance to victims of last week's devastating town hall fire by donating GH¢1.5 million, 65 industrial sewing machines and 110 Butterfly-branded sewing machines. The company has targeted the apprentices with the Butterfly-branded machines, while the experienced craftsmen will share the industrial machines.

This generous aid will be distributed among the victims and the owners of 30 shops and 10 container shops that were also affected by the fire, losing valuable textiles and items.

Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, Faustilove Appiah Kannin, expressed deep gratitude for the support from Bawa Rock Limited, acknowledging that the municipal assembly alone could not adequately address the needs of the victims. The MCE called upon the wider Obuasi community and beyond to rally additional support for the disaster-stricken individuals.

The assembly is currently planning to construct a new town hall to replace the one that was destroyed by the fire, and assured that all donations will be transparently managed.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Business Development and Sustainability Manager, Mr. Eric Addae Boateng, expressed shock at the fire incident and pledged to do everything possible to restore happiness to the victims. He urged local businesses to join the effort in helping those affected. Mrs. Helena Mensah, representing the beneficiaries, expressed heartfelt thanks to both the MCE and Bawa Rock Limited for their timely assistance.
