CSD reform boosts livelihoods at Lewuniyiri with skills training, livestock support

In the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, a CSD reform initiative under the PROVE project has improved livelihoods for vulnerable households in Lewuniyiri. This partnership with UNDP Ghana delivered vocational skill training, production equipment, livestock grants, and a community tricycle to enhance household incomes, market access, and community resilience.

Beneficiaries received training in soap making, dairy value addition, shea butter processing, confectionery production, and soya milk processing. They also received grants for goats, sheep, and pigs under a revolving livestock model aimed at strengthening household resilience and expanding benefits over time. A branded community tricycle was provided to facilitate the transportation of agricultural products to nearby markets and as an emergency transport facility for vulnerable community members.

Mr Kipo Kima Ibrahim urged beneficiaries to responsibly manage the assets, while Mr Seidu Mohammea pledged continued technical and veterinary support. Mr Yusif Abdulai praised the combined approach of vocational skills development and practical livelihood support, assuring GEA's support for financial literacy and market linkages.

Mr Emmanuel Anyorikeya expressed gratitude to UNDP and donor governments for supporting the initiative, emphasizing community ownership, accountability, and inclusion. The project will also provide improved cookstove training, inclusive community dialogues, and mentorship sessions.
