Fahmi denies unity govt using courts, enforcement agencies to threaten Umno leaders

Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil has dismissed allegations that legal proceedings and enforcement agencies are being utilized to intimidate Umno leaders. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the unity government have steadfastly maintained that they will not interfere with enforcement bodies, such as Tabung Haji and Felda. The Sultan Ibrahim, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, mandated that these organizations undergo thorough investigations, according to Fahmi.

He emphasized that the Prime Minister and the party did not announce this directive; it originated from the King. Fahmi clarified that the government must adhere to the monarch's decree to maintain unity. When questioned about potential conflicts within the government, Fahmi expressed confidence that the present administration would fulfill its duties to the best of its capacity until the end of its term.

At an Umno general assembly, party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged an end to the misuse of law enforcement agencies and national institutions for political purposes. Additionally, Umno secretary general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki alleged that the party and its leaders have been subjected to intimidation, defamation, and baseless accusations, citing recent corruption charges against several senior party members.
