Fahmi: Court cases not used to intimidate Umno leaders

KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian government has dismissed allegations that court cases and enforcement actions are being employed to intimidate Umno leaders. In an interview following the OXYENERGY x Media Prima Merdeka Run 2026, government spokesman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil affirmed that Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, had ordered a thorough investigation into matters concerning the Lembaga Tabung Haji and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).

Fahmi emphasized that the prime minister and the administration have consistently refrained from interfering in the operations of enforcement agencies, both initiating and concluding investigations into any cases. This assertion, he noted, originated from the royal decree of His Majesty, rather than from statements made by the prime minister or the party.

Fahmi reiterated that the government's priority lies in ensuring the proper governance and management of crucial institutions, such as Tabung Haji and Felda, especially during the remaining period of the current term. He expressed confidence that the administration would strive to perform at its utmost capacity until the end of its term.

The King's decree, delivered on August 8, mandated that no individual guilty of offenses related to the Lembaga Tabung Haji and Felda should evade accountability. Any investigations into these matters must be conducted thoroughly and pursued to completion, in order to ensure that all responsible parties face consequences and to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.
