'Reheating our leftovers': Samsung takes swipe at Apple over its iPhone 18 series reveal

The tech rivalry between Samsung and Apple took a social media turn as Samsung Mobile US mocked Apple during its "Surprise and Shine" event. Within minutes of Apple unveiling the iPhone 18 Pro and the upcoming iPhone Duo, Samsung fired back with several snarky comments, some of which garnered over a million impressions. Even before Apple ventured into foldable phones, Samsung took a jab at the company with the phrase "So far, so same" and the hashtag #ItsTimeToSwitch.

Following Apple's camera and design changes for the iPhone 18 Pro, Samsung responded with "It's feeling very familiar. Is this a Sims sequel...," implying a lack of significant changes from the iPhone 17 Pro. The company then turned its attention to Apple's foldable phone plans, jokingly saying, "Making us wait? Fine. We'll be over here, folding 3 ways" in reference to its Galaxy Z TriFold, which features a three-panel design.

After Apple introduced the iPhone Duo, Samsung continued the mockery, writing, "Let us know when you're done reheating our leftovers."

Samsung has been making foldable smartphones since the launch of the original Galaxy Fold in 2019, while Apple's iPhone Duo marks its entry into the foldable phone segment. The company also playfully referenced Apple's choice of name for the iPhone Duo, jokingly saying, "I'm so sorry, @DuoLingo. They copied us too #Solidarity." Duolingo responded with a meme referencing a viral joke, "when an ugly stranger calls you twin," and took a jab at Samsung.

Samsung's social media antics are not new, as the company has been using platforms to poke fun at Apple for years, often targeting camera features, sleep tracking, and other iPhone updates.
