iPhone Duo Brings Apple Pencil to the iPhone for the First Time — but Not at Launch

Apple will introduce Apple Pencil support to the iPhone via the upcoming iPhone Duo device, but users will have to wait until later in 2026 to take advantage of the feature. The foldable iPhone, slated for release on October 23, will support the Apple Pencil (USB-C) on both its outer and inner screens, marking the first time an iPhone will be able to use a stylus for writing, drawing, and document annotation.

Despite its debut in Apple's 2026 hardware lineup alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and new Apple Watch and AirPods models, the iPhone Duo will not ship with Pencil support at launch. Apple has not specified when exactly the Pencil capability will be activated, but it is expected to be included in a future iOS update. The iPhone Duo will launch at $1,999 for the 256GB model, with larger storage options also available.

While the device supports Apple Pencil (USB-C), it does not currently support Apple Pencil Pro, which features additional capabilities such as pressure sensitivity and haptic feedback. Organizations considering the iPhone Duo for annotation or document review purposes should wait for the feature to launch and test its compatibility with their business apps before making any deployment decisions.
