Apple Store goes down ahead of iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max & iPhone Duo launch

Apple's highly anticipated product launch event is scheduled for September 9, 2023, at 9 pm UAE time. The company is expected to unveil a foldable iPhone, new iPhone Pro models, Apple Watches, and AirPods during the "Surprise and Shine" event. While Apple has not officially confirmed the products to be showcased, reports from various sources, including Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Reuters, have provided a clear picture of the potential offerings.

The most significant development is the rumored name for the foldable device: iPhone Duo. This is the primary focus of the event, with the phone expected to unfold into a larger, tablet-like display. The Duo will support two iPhone apps side by side, enabling iPad-style multitasking and Apple Pencil input. The device is rumored to debut in white and dark blue, priced starting at around $2,000 for a 256GB model, with prices increasing to approximately $3,000 for the 2TB version.

Analysts believe Apple's entry into the foldable market could significantly expand this niche premium smartphone category, addressing issues such as display creases, hinge durability, and device thickness.

Apart from the iPhone Duo, the event is expected to see the introduction of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, and AirPods 5. The iPhone 18 Pro is likely to maintain a similar appearance to the iPhone 17 Pro, with improvements in the A20 Pro chip, a smaller, enhanced Dynamic Island, and a revamped vapor-chamber cooling system.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a mechanical aperture, providing photographers with more control over exposure and depth of field. The Apple Watch Series 12 is anticipated to receive an annual update, possibly incorporating a ceramic material, faster processor, new case and band options, and improved health and fitness tracking, including continuous heart-rate collection.

AirPods 5 are also expected to be unveiled at the event. Sources suggest that Apple is preparing versions with and without a wireless charging case, featuring significantly improved noise cancellation, and an updated audio chip. While camera-equipped AirPods have been developed by Apple as part of its AI and wearable ambitions, these are reportedly being postponed until 2027. The iPhone 18, a regular iPhone model, is not expected to be introduced during this event.
