Trump says Canada's Bombardier cannot sell in US unless it builds there

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump declared on Monday that the Canadian private jet manufacturer Bombardier would no longer be permitted to sell its aircraft in the United States unless it began producing them domestically. "NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough!" Trump proclaimed in a post on Truth Social.

He added, "If they want our Market, they must build here, and stop treating America like a piggybank." This announcement comes amidst an escalating trade dispute between Washington and Ottawa, which has been fueled by several economic policies during Trump's second term, particularly an expansive tariff wall. Canada is scheduled to retaliate with a series of counter tariffs against the United States on Tuesday.

The White House has not yet provided a comment on the specifics of how Trump would enforce this action or the measures he would take to prevent Bombardier from delivering its planes, which have been approved by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The company's aircraft also comply with the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement that Trump helped negotiate.
