Trump says Canada's Bombardier cannot sell in US unless it builds there

Washington - President Donald Trump declared on Monday that Canadian private jet manufacturer Bombardier would no longer be permitted to sell its aircraft in the United States unless the company began producing them domestically within the country. "NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough!"

Trump proclaimed in a post on Truth Social. He added, "If they want our Market, they must build here, and stop treating America like a piggybank." Trump's statement arrives as tensions escalate between Washington and Ottawa, a part of a broader range of economic policies implemented during his second term, including a near-global tariff wall that has garnered complaints from numerous US trading partners.

Canada plans to introduce a series of retaliatory tariffs against the United States on Tuesday. The White House has not yet provided a response regarding how Trump intends to enforce this action or the steps he would take to prevent the delivery of Bombardier jets, which have already received approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

Notably, the company's jets also adhere to the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement that Trump helped establish.
