Zahid denies rift with Anwar, reaffirms BN’s commitment to political stability

On September 6, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi spoke to reporters following the national-level Orang Asli Sports Carnival at Educity Sports Complex. In the interview, Zahid denied claims of a rift or issues between him and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized that Barisan Nasional (BN) remains committed to maintaining political stability in the country until the end of the term.

Zahid stated that there are no personal or official problems between him and Anwar, not even during Cabinet meetings or official government functions.

The Bloomberg report mentioned previously claimed that relations between Zahid and Anwar were becoming increasingly strained, leading to shorter Cabinet meetings. The report suggested the tension was a result of BN's opposition to Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the recent Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections. However, Zahid dismissed these claims, stating that the coalition's commitment to remaining in the Unity Government until its term's end aligns with the resolution of the Umno General Assembly.

Zahid reiterated that political stability is crucial for maintaining foreign investor confidence in Malaysia and supporting economic growth. He clarified that there are no issues when BN leadership and the Prime Minister participate in Cabinet meetings or at official events.
