Ohio gubernatorial candidate Acton attacked at fair

Ohio Democrat gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton was assaulted at the Canfield Fair near Youngstown on Sunday, her campaign announced. Acton, an American physician and researcher, was unharmed but multiple people were injured. Chris Anderson, chairman of the Mahoning County Democratic Party, said the attacker was apprehended after knocking over volunteers.

Patrick Havas, the suspect, was carrying multiple weapons, according to Anderson. The Mahoning County Sheriff's Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol have not yet commented on the incident. Sheriff Jerry Greene revealed during an interview with 21 News that Havas, Patrick Havas, knocked down two older adults. The incident is condemned by Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican opponent of Acton in the general election, who stated that candidates should be able to meet voters without facing threats or violence. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, a Republican, also condemned the attack.
