Trump says will ask Europeans to repay US for aiding Ukraine

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will request European nations to reimburse the United States for the military aid provided to Ukraine during former President Joe Biden's administration. Trump has consistently advocated for European countries to assume a greater share of the financial responsibility for supporting Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia, which began over four years ago.

According to Trump, the hundreds of billions of dollars in free aid that the United States and NATO provided to Ukraine would have been paid for by Europe if they had been asked to do so. Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform, without specifying which countries he believed should reimburse the United States. Additionally, Trump dismissed reports suggesting that the US military was running low on ammunition in its ongoing conflict with Iran, stating that the country has an "virtually unlimited amount of Mid to High Grade Ammunition" and that ammunition production levels have never been higher.

Trump further explained that Washington is stockpiling munitions and preparing for contingencies, while temporarily suspending overseas arms sales. He clarified that the sales to allies will resume soon, as the country will need to supply them with the necessary weaponry.
